The ceremony looks back on the founding of the institute, highlighting its role as a bridge between the East and West, as well as the importance of Austria as a founding member and host country. The event will take place in German.

Under the title, What we want, a double bill of eco-theater* explores the potentially existential threat to human existence through the metaphors of breathing and eating while seeking a way forward. Both works, Breath and Piece of Cake, strive to counter-narratives of futility by centering stories of resilience, innovation, and interconnection. The performance will include and encourage discussions with the audience throughout the evening.

IIASA ECE is excited to host the next in-person openmod workshop. The Open Energy Modelling (openmod) Initiative promotes open energy modelling across the world. Energy models are widely used for policy advice and research. They serve to help answer questions on energy policy, decarbonization, and transitions toward renewable energy sources.

Sustaining Biodiversity: A Challenge for Science and Policy

This two-day event in cooperation with the Austrian Academy of Sciences will begin with an evening event on 16 November 2022 that demonstrates how systems analysis can contribute to solving many of today’s global challenges as well as explore the future of this transdisciplinary field. The second day will feature a major international conference on systems analysis.
