IIASA Director General John Schellnhuber will be one of the key speakers at the 16th Alvar Aalto Symposium in Jyväskylä, Finland. The theme of this year's event is, The weight of architecture during the era of extremes. The event takes place over two days under three overarching topics, with presentations on Environment, Resources, and Architecture. Schellnhuber's talk will take place on Thursday, 22 August from 14:00-14:30 as part of the Environment topic.

Kai Kornhuber, Senior Research Scholar in the Integrated Climate Impacts Research Group of the IIASA Energy, Climate, and Environment Program, will give a talk titled, Understanding the dynamics of record breaking, concurrent, and sequential extremes at the upcoming Australian Academy of Science Elizabeth and Frederick White Research Conference on Atmospheric Dynamics in Melbourne, Australia.

Professor Shobhakar Dhakal from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) will visit IIASA and the Agriculture, Forestry, and Ecosystem Services Research Group, and present a seminar titled, Cities and Climate Change Nexus Towards a 1.5°C World.
