Everybody’s talking about ChatGPT. The artificial intelligence chatbot, developed by private company OpenAI, allows a user to generate content. It can create poems, articles, short stories, and even jokes. How can researchers benefit from this seemingly revolutionary tool? And why has it sparked controversies, particularly among the scientific community?

This talk will present the results from the ADAPT-UHI project, funded by the Austrian Climate Research Program, in which urban climate modelling was used to assess different climate adaptation and mitigation options in three small- to medium-sized cities in Austria: Klagenfurt, Mödling and Salzburg including a social cost benefit analysis. Other outputs included tailored recommendations for urban planning and an Urban Heat Island Risk map for Austria. More recently, the Urban ReLeaf project, funded by Horizon Europe, aims to involve citizen science and different types of sensors in urban greening solutions across six cities in Europe. Although the project only started at the beginning of 2023, a brief overview of the goals and current activities will be highlighted. The talk will last around 45 minutes followed by questions and a discussion for another 45 minutes.
