Bas Van Ruijven, Research Group Leader and Senior Research Scholar at IIASA, recently attended a meeting in Geneva, Switzerland that discussed Net-Zero Alignment. The goal of this meeting was to engage in detailed, scientific and application discussions regarding the importance of strategic KPIs in maintaining credibility of Net-Zero commitments from the financial sector. The result of these discussions was aimed to be a collaborated end output, with agreement in strategic KPIs and identifying areas for improvement of convergence or credibility. The conversation branched beyond emission reduction KPIs and also discussed KPIs needed to improve transition finance and track financial flow alignment.

The collaboration from this meeting was aimed to target areas of improvement of existing work rather than creating an entirely new framework.
