IIASA Researchers to give keynote on "The value of CRC research".

The title of the VII MEET International Conference is: "Economic, social and civilization challenges in the globalizing world.” Nadejda Komendantova who leads the IIASA Cooperation and Transformative Governance Research Group, is a member of the Conference Scientific Committee and will give two talks at the event.

The International Science Council (ISC) General Assembly (GA) is the highest authority of the Council and consists of representatives of its Members. It meets every three years. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the ISC Governing Board has taken the decision to hold the 2nd ISC General Assembly online, and to reschedule the Muscat Global Knowledge Dialogue to 2023.

Scientists from the IIASA Water Security (WAT) Research Group will conduct a water resource management model-training workshop for experts from Southeast Asian countries, supported by the Economy & Environment Partnership for Southeast Asia (EEPSEA).

Energy Demand changes Induced by Technological and Social innovations (EDITS) side-event at COP26 as part of the Japan Pavilion. The event presented the frontiers in energy and material demand knowledge, the role of digitalization, innovation and equity efforts in a deep social, economic and technological transformation of energy demand. We presented recent work from the EDITS network, and discussed how a demand-side transition can contribute to rapid and successful climate change mitigation towards a 1.5°C pathway.  

This discussion series aims to advance the knowledge about tipping elements, irreversibility, and abrupt changes in the Earth system. It supports efforts to increase consistency in treatment of tipping elements in the scientific community, develop a research agenda, and design joint experiments and ideas for a Tipping Element Model Intercomparison Project (TipMip).
