What would be necessary adaptation strategies for disaster risk reduction in the poorer and most vulnerable countries of the Global South? How can high-risk, low-capacity countries be targeted for assistance to better protect themselves from the impacts of climate change? What is the status quo on climate change and displacement? What is the link between conflict and the climate crisis? Who is particularly affected by displacement? Is climate-related displacement female?
These questions will be addressed on 4 November in this panel discussion with IIASA alumnus Adil Najam, IIASA Program Director Raya Muttarak, and Jane Linekar.
More information regarding the program may be found here.
Following the panel discussion, the VIDC and IIASA are hosting a workshop on 5 November on 'Climate change, displacement and development policy' to bring together policy, humanitarian, development, research, and government voices to create an action plan.
If you are a member of one of these areas, join us by sending an email to Michael Fanizadeh, at the VIDC.
