In May, IIASA proudly welcomed alumni of its former Resources and Environment Area (REN) and Environment Program (ENV) who worked at the institute in the 1970s and 1980s.

IIASA researchers contributed to a new study in Nature, that for the first time presents quantifiable numbers and a solid scientific foundation to assess the state of our planetary health, not only regarding Earth System stability and resilience, but also in terms of human wellbeing and justice.

IIASA is hosting a FireLinks Cost Action Synergy Workshop on 5-7 June. The FireLinks COST Action, also known as "Fire in the Earth System: Science & Society" aims to establish a robust and interconnected network of scientists and practitioners dedicated to forest fire research and land management. The project brings together experts from various disciplines, including fire dynamics, fire risk management, fire effects on vegetation, fauna, soil, and water, as well as socio-economic, historical, geographical, political perception, and land management approaches.

This event will take place on Thursday, June 8th, from 13:00 to 18:00 at the Bonn Marriott Hotel. The three projects included in the Co-Creation workshop are ELEVATE, ENGAGE, and COMMITTED, organizations focused on climate policy and reaching goals set by the 2015 Paris Agreement.
