IIASA Deputy Director General for Science Leena Srivastava will give a keynote lecture at the virtual International Symposium: Developing Research towards Achieving the SDGs in the Post COVID-19 Era. She will present findings from the IIASA-ISC Consultative Science Platform identifying sustainable pathways in the post-COVID recovery process.

Scientists from IIASA and the Royal Scientific Society of Jordan will meet to discuss their respective expertise and research interests in energy and climate change. Nadejda Komendantova is invited to speak at the session on Mitigating Trans-Border Environmental Risks and Challenges of the 2020 OSCE Asian Conference on Multilateral Responses to the Global Security Challenges.  The conference is co-organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). The main topic of the conference is “Multilateral responses to the global security challenges”.  

Risk and Resilience Deputy Program Director Thomas Schinko will participate in a panel discussion within the 7th Climate & Environment Film Festival in Baden.

The Committee on Data of the International Science Council (CODATA) exists to promote global collaboration to improve the availability and usability of data for all areas of research. IIASA is organizing a joint IIASA-CODATA workshop on Big Data and Systems Analysis to continue investigating the possibilities and potential benefits of strengthening this collaboration.

Nadejda Komendantova from the Advanced Systems Analysis (ASA) program gives a talk on "Factors of awareness and social support for energy transition" at the workshop "Activating People for Energy Transition in the Baltic Sea Region". The workshop is dedicated to the role of public acceptance and bottom-up grassroots movements in energy transition and is organised by the University of Greifswald, Germany. The talk is based on the experience of the Austrian Climate and Energy Model Regions (LINKS) project.

Nadejda Komendantova is invited to speak about gender equality, including gender roles and stereotypes, as well as the possibilities for the involvement of women into decision-making processes in the frame of participatory governance at the virtual workshop on  "Voices of women during the COVID-19 situation". The workshop is co-organized by the University of Central Asia, Gradual School of Development, Civil Society Initiative and the Aga Khan Foundation. 

Nadejda Komendantova is invited to give a keynote presentation on "Intelligent information technologies  approach to sustainability studies of energy, social and environmental systems" at the International Scientific Conference on "Sustainable Energy Development of the Republic of Belarus: State and Prospects". The conference is organized by the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and Republican Research and Production Unitary Enterprise "Institute of Power Engineering".

The National Research Foundation (NRF) and IIASA are hosting a webinar to build stronger systems analysis linkages in South Africa.

Nadejda Komendantova is invited to speak on "How can participatory governance methods and tools be applied for contested policy issues such as strategies of socio-economic development?" at the virtual meeting on Innovation Ecosystems. The meeting addresses benefits of existing decision-support systems and participatory modelling tools and discusses challenges for their implementation. 

Nadejda Komendantova is invited to give a talk on "A Decision Tool for the Water-Energy Nexus in Jordan" at the 19th International Conference on Intelligent Software Methodologies, Tools and Techniques (SOMET 2020). The conference brings together researchers and practitioners to share their original research results and experience in scientific software development and related new technologies. It facilitates discussions about new trends in decision support systems, tools and methodologies. 

IIASA and UNCCD Secretariat have strengthened their cooperation on facilitating the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through signing a Memorandum of Understanding.
