IIASA Deputy Director General for Science Leena Srivastava will give a virtual seminar at the Payne Institute for Public Policy presenting key insights and areas for transformative action in the post-COVID recovery process that have emerged from the IIASA-ISC Consultative Science Platform.

Leena Ilmola-Sheppard is invited to speak at a panel discussion at the Budapest Eurasia Forum 2020. The forum is organized by Magyar Nemzeti Bank, the Central Bank of Hungary and is opened by H.E. Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary. 

IIASA researcher Behnam Zakeri will speak at the International Conference of the Institute of National Planning of Egypt on energy and sustainable development. He will present a perspective that bridges national boundaries focusing on the implications of the Paris Agreement for achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Leena Ilmola-Sheppard gives a talk on "Global economic system behaviour after COVID-19 - how to use systems analysis in the case of extreme uncertainties" at the 2020 Annual Meeting of the Society for Decision Making Under Deep Uncertainty (DMDU 2020) co-organized by Tecnologico de Monterrey, Mexico. The meeting is centered on the theme “New Ideas, Frontiers and Transformations”.

Nadejda Komendantova is invited to speak at the meeting on Scientific cooperation organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Paraguay in Austria. The meeting is dedicated to the Austrian experience and energy policy. H.E. Ambassador Juan Facetti provides opening remarks at the meeting.

Building on the work of the Finnish Populations Policy Project, the Finnish Prime Minister’s Office and IIASA are holding an interactive seminar featuring leading global experts of demographic change and ageing societies to examine the causes of the current demographic situation in Finland and to discuss policy recommendations, aimed at forward-looking sustainable demographic development.

Nadejda Komendantova is invited to speak at the session on Mitigating Trans-Border Environmental Risks and Challenges of the 2020 OSCE Asian Conference on Multilateral Responses to the Global Security Challenges.  The conference is co-organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). The main topic of the conference is “Multilateral responses to the global security challenges”.  

Risk and Resilience Deputy Program Director Thomas Schinko will participate in a panel discussion within the 7th Climate & Environment Film Festival in Baden.

The Committee on Data of the International Science Council (CODATA) exists to promote global collaboration to improve the availability and usability of data for all areas of research. IIASA is organizing a joint IIASA-CODATA workshop on Big Data and Systems Analysis to continue investigating the possibilities and potential benefits of strengthening this collaboration.

Nadejda Komendantova from the Advanced Systems Analysis (ASA) program gives a talk on "Factors of awareness and social support for energy transition" at the workshop "Activating People for Energy Transition in the Baltic Sea Region". The workshop is dedicated to the role of public acceptance and bottom-up grassroots movements in energy transition and is organised by the University of Greifswald, Germany. The talk is based on the experience of the Austrian Climate and Energy Model Regions (LINKS) project.

Nadejda Komendantova is invited to speak about gender equality, including gender roles and stereotypes, as well as the possibilities for the involvement of women into decision-making processes in the frame of participatory governance at the virtual workshop on  "Voices of women during the COVID-19 situation". The workshop is co-organized by the University of Central Asia, Gradual School of Development, Civil Society Initiative and the Aga Khan Foundation. 

Nadejda Komendantova is invited to give a keynote presentation on "Intelligent information technologies  approach to sustainability studies of energy, social and environmental systems" at the International Scientific Conference on "Sustainable Energy Development of the Republic of Belarus: State and Prospects". The conference is organized by the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and Republican Research and Production Unitary Enterprise "Institute of Power Engineering".
