Kai Kornhuber, Senior Research Scholar in the Integrated Climate Impacts Research Group of the IIASA Energy, Climate, and Environment Program, will deliver a keynote at Humboldt University of Berlin's upcoming Fragile Lives 2024 expert conference.

IIASA Director General John Schellnhuber will be one of the key speakers at the 16th Alvar Aalto Symposium in Jyväskylä, Finland. The theme of this year's event is, The weight of architecture during the era of extremes. The event takes place over two days under three overarching topics, with presentations on Environment, Resources, and Architecture. Schellnhuber's talk will take place on Thursday, 22 August from 14:00-14:30 as part of the Environment topic.

Kai Kornhuber, Senior Research Scholar in the Integrated Climate Impacts Research Group of the IIASA Energy, Climate, and Environment Program, will give a talk titled, Understanding the dynamics of record breaking, concurrent, and sequential extremes at the upcoming Australian Academy of Science Elizabeth and Frederick White Research Conference on Atmospheric Dynamics in Melbourne, Australia.

IIASA is partnering with the World Bank to host a joint session at the US National Academies (NASEM) Climate Crossroads 2024 summit scheduled for 16-17 July in Washington, DC. Pallav Purohit, senior research scholar in the Pollution Management Research Group of the IIASA Energy, Climate, and Environment Program, has been invited to participate in the 46th Meeting of the Open-ended Working Group of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol on substances that deplete the ozone layer and associated meetings in his capacity as a member of the Refrigeration Technical Options Committee under the Technology and Economic Assessment Panel.

IIASA researcher Roman Hoffmann is invited to deliver a keynote speech at the Migration Conference 2024, organized by Universidad Iberoamericana (IBERO) in Mexico City.

Professor Shobhakar Dhakal from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) will visit IIASA and the Agriculture, Forestry, and Ecosystem Services Research Group, and present a seminar titled, Cities and Climate Change Nexus Towards a 1.5°C World. Dmitry Erokhin, a researcher in the Cooperation and Transformative Governance Research Group of the IIASA Advancing Systems Analysis Program will participate in a panel discussion titled, New ways of understanding and supporting (pre-)parliamentary decision-making processes, and give a talk on the application of machine learning to support policy decision making on the Day of Parliamentary Research 2024.
