This project estimates the current global treated wastewater irrigation potential and the capacity of wastewater reclamation to function as a climate adaptation measure. GATWIP explores different technological scenarios and technical limitations for treated wastewater irrigation and applies a novel spatially explicit modeling approach to recently published global datasets. GATWIP is funded by a IIASA’s Innovative and Bridging Grant (IBGF).

Research Project
EYE-CLIMA will support National Greenhouse Gas Inventories (NGHGIs), and thus the Paris Agreement, by developing independent observation-based methods for verifying emission estimates of greenhouse gases and the aerosol species, black carbon. Independent verification is much needed and is recognized by the IPCC in their 2019 refinement of the guidelines for NGHGIs.
Research Project
BIOCONSENT provides novel scientific knowledge and policy support by integrating socio-ecological approaches to assess outcomes of alternative conservation and restoration measures on forest biodiversity and ecosystem services provision across spatial and temporal scales at the biodiversity-forest-climate-water nexus.
Model
The ibis.iSDM package provides a series of convenience functions to fit integrated Species Distribution Models (iSDMs). With integrated models we generally refer to SDMs that incorporate information from different biodiversity datasets, external parameters such as priors or offsets with respect to certain variables and regions.

Researchers working on the FACE-Africa project have co-developed country-specific information and tools with Gambian food system stakeholders to evaluate possible strategies for adapting to climate change and ensuring sufficient healthy food for The Gambia. Their recommendations and key findings are now available in a new IIASA policy brief.
