Bending the curve of biodiversity loss

Plant and animal species across the world are steadily disappearing due to human activity. A major new IIASA-led study suggests that without ambitious, integrated action combining conservation and restoration efforts with a transformation of the food system, turning the tide of biodiversity loss by 2050 or earlier will not be possible.

Nadejda Komendantova from the Advanced Systems Analysis program is invited to speak at the The International Urban Forum "Territory of the Future. View from the Heart of Eurasia" and gives a talk on "Monocities: challenges and models of socio-economic development and financing". Her experience was gained by analysing regional strategies of regional development of the Austrian Climate and Energy Model regions as well as from the team work (with Elena Rovenskaya, Nikita Strelkovskii and Love Ekenberg) in preparation of  the Strategy of Sustainable Industrial Development for Kyrgyzstan.
