IIASA is a core member of the Flood Resilience Alliance, an innovative partnership between research, development and humanitarian NGOs and the private sector that works together for making at step change with regard to policy, finance and practice of managing floods and other climate-related hazards towards increased community resilience.

Each year, disasters force millions of people to move from their homes, with profound human and financial consequences, and climate change is making the situation worse. But recent work involving novel modeling and new data makes it possible to assess these risks and prepare for them.

The FRMC was created by the Zurich Flood Resilience Alliance in 2013 and is an innovation in community flood resilience theory and practice. It allows users to generate evidence about the ways in which a given area or community is already resilient to floods, as well as providing a guide to further develop this resilience

The INQUIMUS workshop has been postponed to Winter 2021. IIASA’s Population and Just Societies Program together with the Advanced Systems Analysis Program will host the INQUIMUS workshop series entitled Risk management and Loss & Damage: What are suitable approaches for assessing climate-related (residual) risks?". The workshop will focus on the pressing issue of climate-related risks that may go beyond social and physical limits for adaptation.
