BLOOM is an interdisciplinary One Health research project that aims to better understand the impact of conservation- and land use policies on zoonotic disease spillover (particularly Ebola Virus Disease) in Sierra Leone. By analyzing the intersection of land-use systems and policy frameworks, we aim to identify conservation-based strategies that could reduce the risk of future outbreaks. Our research integrates stakeholder dynamics, policy frameworks, and land-use systems to strengthen health and conservation outcomes.
BLOOM’s first stakeholder workshop aims to:
- introduce the project’s aims and objectives;
- identify key actors in the project region;
- present preliminary results from tasks on stakeholder mapping, policy scanning and narrative identification; and
- explore strategic avenues for future exchanges and collaboration.
