Join us as IIASA celebrates the Postdoc Appreciation Week (PAW) Austria – a national collaborative initiative that unites researchers, research institutions, postdoc office coordinators, and research managers to celebrate and recognize the outstanding contributions of postdoctoral researchers across Austria.

Throughout the week, participating partners will offer a rich program of workshops, public events, and a coordinated social media campaign, all aimed at highlighting the essential role of postdocs in driving research and innovation – check out the attached program!

Archimedes-IIASA Postdoctoral Research Scholar, Manya Oriel Kagan, will present the following session

Research dissemination for impact Formats, audiences, and writing strategies

As researchers, we often believe deeply in the importance of our work and want it to reach beyond academic audiences to create meaningful impact for the communities we study, work with, and serve. At the same time, donors, employers, and colleagues increasingly expect researchers to engage in dissemination efforts – but how to do this well is not always clear. In this session, we will explore a range of dissemination formats, from traditional outputs such as policy briefs to more creative and non-traditional approaches such as comics, visual storytelling, and other public-facing materials. Together, we will consider best practices for engaging different audiences, key questions to keep in mind when choosing a format, and the writing process behind these forms of engagement. The session will offer a collegial and supportive space to reflect on how we can use our time as postdoctoral fellows to create impact, broaden the reach of our research, and give further meaning to our work.
