Gamescom is one of the largest video game trade fairs in the world. This year, NODES will participate in the business area to discuss one of our research projects, CHOICE, where we investigate digital enablers for a sustainable food transition, such as video games.

Video games are a unique medium that doesn't just tell stories but let's players interactively explore them. This way, games can transport issue knowledge, narratives, and emotional connections while also empowering players to experiment and explore. The medium is extremely versatile from simple puzzle games to huge simulations and open worlds. All of this makes games a unique medium for science und sustainability communication.

Gamescom is an annual hub where the industry presents new games to the public but always gets together for large-scale business meetings. Hundreds of thousands of gaming enthusiasts and industry experts participate, making it a central event to hands-on experience industry trends, get feedback on our own work and for connections for future collaborations. IIASA and NODES will be present to explore additional opportunities for our work and learn from industry experts.
