Africa is taking a leading role in shaping global dialogues by empowering researchers, institutions, and policymakers to influence decision-making and co-develop evidence, based solutions to shared challenges. At the heart of this effort lies systems analysis, a powerful approach for understanding and addressing the complex interconnections between food, energy, water, and climate systems.

Through the Sub-Saharan African Regional Member Organization (SSARMO), IIASA, and the National Research Foundation (NRF) have made significant strides across the continent, by contributing to innovative solutions in priority areas while also building capacity through initiatives such as the South Africa Systems Analysis Center (SASAC) and the South African Young Scientists Summer Program (SA-YSSP).

In celebrating these achievements, IIASA and the NRF have partnered with the University of Pretoria to host a high-level dialogue, that:

• Showcases Africa’s systems analysis priorities
• Highlight IIASA’s long-standing partnership with African institutions
• Strengthen institutional collaboration
• Identify strategic opportunities for joint initiatives and policy engagement.

Together, let’s shape Africa’s contribution to solving the world’s most complex challenges.
