Around 25 students accompanied by their teachers from the Draschestrasse High School in Vienna will visit IIASA on Thursday, 12 June.
IIASA researchers Silvia Artuso and Shipra Singh will spend the morning with the students in the park addressing the subject of biodiversity and understanding ecosystem services. Systems thinking is crucial for tackling global issues. Encouraging students to think about the complexity of the natural and social world they live in is one of the key objectives of the IIASA School Visits Initiative.
IIASA’s engagement program for schools
We believe that future leaders need to acquire systems thinking skills as early as possible. Therefore, we at IIASA not only train graduate and postgraduate students, PhD candidates, postdocs, and professionals, but also bring systems thinking to the children and teenagers at schools (initially in Austria) to develop relevant skills at a point where young people start to think fundamentally about the complexity of the natural and social world they live in.
If you and your school wish to participate, do not hesitate to get in touch.
