IIASA at CLIMAAX regional workshop in Barcelona to help build climate resilience
IIASA researchers Michaela Bachmann and Reinhard Mechler supported the CLIMAAX regions workshop in Barcelona that brought together 70 implementing institutions, pilot site representatives, and project developers to exchange knowledge, discuss challenges, and showcase success stories from implementation of climate risk assessment.
The program of this flagship project of the EU included Q&A sessions, roundtable discussions, and poster exhibitions to foster collaboration and deeper insights into climate risk assessment. The workshop also included engagement with key policymakers and featured interactive sessions with the aim to further build a Community of Practice to tackle the challenges of applying climate risk assessment in real- world contexts and ultimately build climate resilience across Europe. IIASA’s work focusses on creating a comprehensive framework for assessing climate risks as well as an interactive dashboard for evaluating and prioritising climate risks that need urgent attention.
