About the Workshop:

The workshop seeks to foster collaboration between national modeling teams, stakeholders, and global Integrated Assessment Modeling (IAM) experts to explore the role of model-based policymaking in supporting climate change mitigation efforts at the national level. By bringing together diverse perspectives and expertise, the workshop aims to facilitate meaningful discussions on the challenges, opportunities, and best practices associated with modeling for climate policy formulation.

Key Objectives:

  1. Enhancing Modeling Capacities: The workshop aims to strengthen the capacity of Chinese researchers, policymakers, and stakeholders in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions modeling and sectorial transition scenario analysis.
  2. Facilitating Knowledge Exchange: Through interactive sessions and discussions, participants will have the opportunity to share experiences, insights, and lessons learned from modeling efforts in both the European Union (EU) and Asian countries.
  3. Promoting Stakeholder Engagement: The workshop will emphasize the importance of engaging relevant stakeholders in the modeling process to ensure the development of robust and contextually relevant mitigation strategies.

Workshop Topics:

  • Integrated Multi-Sectoral Modeling Frameworks
  • Scenario Building and Analysis
  • Stakeholder Engagement Strategies

Who Should Attend:

Academics, researchers, policymakers, and stakeholders involved or interested in climate change mitigation efforts, modeling, and policy formulation are encouraged to participate.

This workshop offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the advancement of climate policy in Indonesia and beyond. This workshop will bring together international researchers in Integrated Assessment Modelling (IAM) together to discuss and develop recent modelling activities in relation to updated climate scenarios and sectoral transitions for Indonesia. Subsequently, these outcomes are shared and discussed with Indonesian stakeholder groups and  delegates from EU DGCLIMA in the areas of climate, environmental and economic policy-making. Through this workshop, the hosts are seeking to verify research developments and contribute to current (energy) policy discussions in Indonesia and globally.
