HOTHOUSE, realized in cooperation with the Heinrich Böll Foundation – Global Unit for Human Security (Vienna) and other partners, brings together artists, activists, practitioners, and thinkers from around the world to question the growing power of AI. IIASA guest researcher Camille Belmin will join the event as one of the discussants.
The third edition of HOTHOUSE explores how digital technologies and artificial intelligence fuel misinformation and intensify polarization. Embedded in an artistic and performative setting, the event not only examines these challenges but also highlights concrete strategies and countermeasures.
Highlights include:
- Camille Belmin (IIASA guest researcher) on how digital misinformation amplifies climate risks and hidden labor.
- Lucas Chancel (Co-Director of the World Inequality Lab and Professor of Economics, Sciences Po, Paris), joining via Point Cloud Video Sharing, presenting the latest data on global income, wealth, and climate inequalities.
- The Replaybook: A Fieldguide to the Climate and Information Crisis – the centerpiece of the evening, showcasing Tactical Tech’s new project developed with 30+ experts worldwide, offering practical tools and solutions to shift narratives and counter climate disinformation.
- A panel discussion with Marek Tyszinski (Tactical Tech) and Thomas Lohninger (epicenter.works) on breaking the vicious cycle of digital misinformation and climate catastrophe.
