The Paris School of Economics is hosting the workshop “Forest and People: From Skyview to Local Dynamics” in Aussois, organized by the Opening Economics Chair. Myroslava Lesiv is invited to deliver a keynote speech.
The workshop is an interdisciplinary event that brings together researchers from economics, human geography, and remote sensing around a shared research focus: forests across the world, with particular emphasis on developing countries. It combines standard presentations with open discussion slots designed to foster exchange on the drivers of forest cover change. A key focus of the workshop is the importance of accurate measurement as well as the complexity of human behavior in shaping environmental outcomes. Public policy is placed at the center of the discussions, including its effectiveness in reducing forest cover loss, potential spatial and temporal spillovers, and questions regarding the appropriate scale and duration of interventions.
As a keynote speaker, Myroslava Lesiv will share her experience in mapping forest management and validating forest maps derived from remote sensing data.
