IIASA Director General Hans Joachim (John) Schellnhuber, will be a featured speaker at the upcoming WEtransFORM Festival, taking place from 5 to 7 June 2025, at the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn, Germany.

The WEtransFORM Festival marks the opening of the exhibition titled, WEtransFORM: New European Bauhaus and Beyond, an initiative that explores sustainable architecture and urban development in the context of the European Green Deal. The festival brings together leading climate scientists, architects, policymakers, and designers to discuss transformative approaches to building and living in harmony with the environment.

Schellnhuber will deliver a keynote address titled, Saving the World in Style, focusing on the intersection of climate science, architecture, and cultural transformation. Following his keynote, he will participate in a panel discussion alongside Ruth Reichstein from the European Commission's New European Bauhaus initiative, Professor Annette Hillebrandt from the University of Wuppertal, and Eva Kraus, Director of the Bundeskunsthalle. The discussion will be moderated by the exhibition's curator, Sven Sappelt.

The festival is organized in cooperation with the New European Bauhaus of the European Commission and aims to foster dialogue on the sustainable transformation of our built environment.
