IIASA Director General Hans Joachim (John) Schellnhuber will be a keynote speaker and panelist at the upcoming International Network for Traditional Building, Architecture, and Urbanism (INTBAU) Qatar Conference which will take place during the Earthna Summit 2025.

The INTBAU Qatar Conference brings together leading experts, policymakers, architects, and urban economists to critically examine the intersections of traditional architecture, sustainable finance, policy frameworks, and education. These sessions challenge existing development paradigms, questioning whether alternative urban models, that are rooted in place-specific knowledge, human-scale design, and resource efficiency, can offer viable solutions to contemporary challenges.

Professor Schellnhuber's keynote will be titled, Saving the World by Construction. In addition to his keynote address he has also been invited to participate as a panelist in a conference session titled, Rethinking Urban Sustainability: Lessons from Traditional Architecture, which is scheduled for 22 April from 12:30 to 13:30 local time.
