The US Committee for IIASA of the National Academy of Sciences will host an online information session on Friday, 5 April 2024 for individuals interested in applying to attend IIASA’s inaugural Summer School on Systems Modeling.
The session will feature organizers of the summer school and members of the US Committee for IIASA to offer information on the summer school, the application process, and funding for successful applicants. Potential applicants from all countries are welcome to attend the online information session.
Information on the Summer School
The two-week summer school is designed for master’s, PhD, and postdoctoral researchers who wish to use or develop models broadly related to the sustainability agenda. The goal is to equip participants with a solid understanding of modeling practices and the limitations of models. Many examples will be taken from IIASA’s portfolio of tools and methods, ranging from ecological models and socioeconomic systems, to integrated assessment tools for energy, air, water, biodiversity, and food.
The IIASA website offers details on the Program, Application process and Location and Accommodation. Applicants need to provide a succinct motivation statement and have some quantitative skills including some knowledge of scientific programming. Successful applicants will be notified by 3 May 2024.
