The DNC 2025 marks a decade of pioneering Nexus research and innovation. As the world faces complex environmental and societal challenges, this year’s theme, "The Future of Resources – Resources for the Future," calls on researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to explore holistic solutions for a sustainable future.
We are putting the spotlight on Session B3: Nexus Thinking in Action – How Citizen Science Shapes Sustainability, an interactive and forward-thinking discussion on how collaborative science initiatives are reshaping sustainability strategies. Our session aims to expand upon the critical role of citizen-gathered data and societal participation in informing evidence-based policy-making for sustainable development. We will share state-of-the-art examples of citizen science approaches and their outcomes and impacts. Learn how communities, scientists, and decision-makers are working together to trigger change!
The session is a collaboration between IIASA, UNU-Flores, Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development, University of Groningen, Leiden University and The Allan Turing Institute.
Inian Moorthy will present research findings from the NODES-led Urban ReLeaf project, developed in collaboration with Gerid Hager, Todd Harwell, and Sandra Brozek.
