Biography
Xiran Dong joined the Equity and Justice (EQU) Research Group of the IIASA Population and Just Societies (POPJUS) Program as a researcher in January 2024.Her research interest lies in the global-local nexus, participatory decision-making, stakeholder engagement, education, and communication. She is currently involved in the Horizon Europe projects Firelogue and Rainforest. Furthermore, she supported the CRiSDA project which aims to design a climate risk service for drought risk management in Austria through co-creation.
Prior to joining EQU, she was a science diplomacy fellow at IIASA and a research assistant at the University of Vienna. Furthermore, she has gained professional experience at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and TU Wien in science communication, instructional design, and project management.
She received her master's degree in Sinology from the University of Vienna, Austria, and completed an Erasmus exchange semester at Leiden University. Additionally, she holds a bachelor's degree in Transcultural Communication from the University of Vienna and speaks Chinese, English, and German fluently.
