ForestNavigator Research Marketplace and Final Conference

Coordinated by IIASA, ForestNavigator assesses the climate mitigation potential of European forests and forest-based sectors and develops policy pathways that consider climate mitigation alongside biodiversity, ecosystem services, and the bioeconomy.

The event will take place in two parts. On 13 October, the ForestNavigator Research Marketplace will offer an interactive afternoon to explore key project results, meet ForestNavigator partners, and discover the tools and research developed throughout the project. IIASA researchers will feature prominently in the program, with Fulvio Di Fulvio opening the event and providing an overview of ForestNavigator’s outputs. Andrey Lessa, Andre Nakhavali, and Hao Xu will contribute to sessions showcasing research on biodiversity, the policy modeling toolbox developed as part of the project, and exploratory pathways for the European forest-based bioeconomy.

On 14 October, the Final Conference – Navigating the Future of the EU Forest Sector will focus on Forest Policy Pathways and how European and national pathways can reconcile climate mitigation, biodiversity conservation, and bioeconomy objectives. IIASA Biodiversity and Natural Resources Program Director, Petr Havlík, will open the conference, while Fulvio Di Fulvio will present results on resilient EU and national forest policy pathways together with Julia Bognar of the Institute for European Environmental Policy. The day will also feature a panel discussion bringing ForestNavigator modeling results into conversation with policymakers and decision-makers, business and industry stakeholders, and civil society.
