Anne Goujon will present the results of a global survey on the drivers of global demographic change, launched in June 2023, at a workshop in Brussels organized by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC).

The survey titled "Global Demography Expert Survey. Drivers and Consequences of Demographic Change" was carried out by IIASA (Population and Just Societies Program), the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC), and the Population Division of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) among world experts in demography to better understand the future of the world population and its impact on various global trends.

The workshop brings together demography experts and policymakers working in a wide range of policy areas such as: regional policies, fiscal policies, employment, environment and climate, migration, development and external relations, to discuss the results of the survey and the implications for policy-making. In particular, key trends in fertility, migration and mortality will be presented, with a discussion on the role of policies. Among the experts, Raya Muttarak, Roman Hoffmann and Nicholas Gailey from IIASA/POPJUS will discuss migration in the context of climate change.

The technical report about the survey findings will be made available on the event website shortly before the workshop starts.
