IIASA's Nebojsa Nakicenovic will be holding a lecture titled 'EU policies to be the first carbon-neutral continent in the transforming world' at this year's symposium.

The Systems Analysis Group at RITE organizes an annual high-level symposium with esteemed international keynote presenters.

RITE is leading a research collaboration on ALternative Pathways toward Sustainable development and climate stabilization (ALPS), which is sponsored by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Japan. The research project aims to contribute to planning of the international framework and strategy for green growth and investigates long-term responses to climate change risks. The study includes analyses of future low energy demand scenarios with potential social changes to be induced by recent development of IoT and sharing economy, which may reduce energy demand. The ECE program at IIASA is a collaborator on this research effort.
