IIASA will participate as an observer organization in the ninth session of the Plenary of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES 9).

The Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) is an independent intergovernmental body established by States to strengthen the science-policy interface for biodiversity and ecosystem services for the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity, long-term human well-being and sustainable development.

IIASA researchers: Samuel Guéret, Energy, Climate, and Environment Program, Bruno Meirelles De Oliveira, Advancing Systems Analysis Program, and Martin JungBiodiversity and Natural Resources Program, will take part in the meeting and contribute to its discussions.

IPBES 9 will consider a number of issues including:

  • Implementation of the rolling work program of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services up to 2030
  • Financial and budgetary arrangements
  • Organization of the Plenary and dates and venues of future sessions of the Plenary
