This talk will present the results from the ADAPT-UHI project, funded by the Austrian Climate Research Program, in which urban climate modelling was used to assess different climate adaptation and mitigation options in three small- to medium-sized cities in Austria: Klagenfurt, Mödling and Salzburg including a social cost benefit analysis. Other outputs included tailored recommendations for urban planning and an Urban Heat Island Risk map for Austria. More recently, the Urban ReLeaf project, funded by Horizon Europe, aims to involve citizen science and different types of sensors in urban greening solutions across six cities in Europe. Although the project only started at the beginning of 2023, a brief overview of the goals and current activities will be highlighted. The talk will last around 45 minutes followed by questions and a discussion for another 45 minutes.

Linda See will give a presentation on two projects, one that NODES led in the past (ADAPT-UHI) and one that started recently (Urban ReLeaf), both of which are focused on climate adaptation and mitigation and urban greening. A summary of the results from the ADAPT-UHI project will be presented, which can also be accessed from the website.
