EQU researchers Thomas Schinko and Susanne Hanger-Kopp will host a Qualitative Systems Mapping (QSM) workshop for the Austrian Academy of Sciences' Commission on De-fossilization and Carbon Neutrality of the European Energy System (DEE).
Achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions through the decarbonization of our energy systems and the defossilization of other areas of life can only be achieved through the coordinated use of all available technological and behavioral approaches and resources that include both the supply and demand side as well as global interactions. This “energy transition” therefore represents a multi-layered interdisciplinary challenge of considerable complexity.
This workshop of the Commission’s working group DEE-SYS, which is chaired by EQU’s Thomas Schinko, will attempt a systemic analysis of the socio-economic, technical and ecological challenges of the transformation of the European energy system with conscious consideration of the closely interwoven global effects.
