COMMITTED is an international project funded by the European Commission’s Directorate on Climate (DG CLIMA). The project aims to enhance sharing of good practices on greenhouse gas emissions modelling between EU and Asian countries. The Consortium comprises major global integrated assessment modelling teams as well as institutions from major Asian economies.
The webinar will be delivered as part of the COMMITTED project.
China’s energy transition is pivotal to achieving climate mitigation and carbon neutrality. Using the Integrated Energy and Environment Policy Assessment Model for China (IPAC), this study quantifies how pathways toward net-zero emissions affect CO₂ emissions, energy structure, water demand, and selected Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The results—showing a sharp decline in fossil fuel use and rapid growth of renewable and nuclear energy by 2060—will be presented in an upcoming webinar. The session will also discuss implications for energy-related water demand and the role of water-saving measures in reducing long-term pressures.
Speaker:
Chenmin He is an assistant researcher at Zhejiang Carbon Neutral Innovation Institute, Zhejiang University of Technology. Her main research fields include integrated modeling analysis of energy system and climate change mitigation, synergies between climate change mitigation and sustainable development, policy and technology evaluation of greenhouse gas emissions reduction.
