The "IIASA 50^th Anniversary Science Diplomacy Event - the Need for International Scientific Cooperation and Multilateralism" was held on 14 June 2022 in Vienna, Austria. It brought together members of the research community, experts, representatives of the diplomatic corps and international organizations.

IIASA, a global leader in systems analysis, is now in its 50th year. Throughout 2021, the institute has continued to expand its scientific reach internationally through research partnerships, alumni, and collaborator networks.

In addition to its extensive network of researchers around the world, IIASA collaborates with many eminent scholars who are enthusiastic about contributing to IIASA analysis and policy reach. The following have been made IIASA Distinguished Visiting Fellows.

The IIASA Council, wishing to honor outstanding contributions made to the development of the Institute and to the advancement of its objectives, created in November 1975 (Council resolution 35) the award "IIASA Honorary Scholar" to be conferred by unanimous Council decision for exemplary dedication to the Institute's ideals and distinguished scholarly achievement.

Researchers and research software professionals will be appointed in accordance with the criteria described in the profile documents below.

The IIASA Retirement Benefits Plan is established as a contributory savings and investment scheme. The objective of the Plan is to provide members with a capital sum upon their retirement, or early retirement, or upon leaving the Plan.  The Plan does not pay pensions or enter into contracts of annuity or insurance.  Further specific RBP information is available only internally to IIASA,  and  via the IIASA portal.

The IIASA Annual Reports present highlights from IIASA research and other activities at the global, regional, and national levels in a dynamic, interactive, digital format.

This two-day hybrid event is organized by the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) and the Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW) to celebrate IIASA 50th Anniversary.
