Abstract

Systems Analysis is a powerful tool to address complex problems of our society. IIASA can proudly look back at half a century of experience in developing holistic, inter-, multi- and transdisciplinary approaches as a basis for science-based policy decisions. However, we are only in the beginning of a science-for-policy journey.

This session highlights some of the grand challenges of humanity, featured by a diverse group of globally leading scholars in their respective domains, thus providing a comprehensive perspective of IIASA’s operating space.
