Taking place 24–25 November 2026 at Tsinghua University in Beijing, the conference is co-hosted by the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) and Tsinghua University, and will bring together leading researchers, policymakers, innovators, and communicators to advance the global dialogue on overshoot pathways and responses.
Thank you to everyone who has already submitted an abstract for the second Overshoot Conference!
Building on the inaugural 2025 Overshoot Conference, which drew 180 participants from 22 countries, this year's edition moves to Beijing to deepen the global dialogue on overshoot pathways and responses.
The conference will be structured around eight interdisciplinary themes, spanning mitigation ambition and overshoot pathways, Earth system responses and carbon dioxide removal, decarbonization technologies, climate impact reversibility, tipping elements, adaptation and loss and damage, governance and equity, and a dedicated theme on health impacts.
We're pleased to announce that the submission deadline has been extended to 6 September. If you haven't submitted yet, there's still time to be part of the conversation and contribute to shaping the scientific program.
More details on registration, the full program, and travel logistics will follow in the coming weeks on the official conference website.
