Inga Menke

Biography

Inga Menke is a senior research scholar in the Integrated Climate Impacts Research Group of the IIASA Energy, Climate, and Environment Program. Her work centers on fostering meaningful stakeholder engagement and she has strong expertise in designing participatory processes, co-developing scenarios, facilitating dialogue at the intersection of science and policy, and building capacity among scientists and stakeholders. One of her key areas of focus is climate litigation, where she has contributed to advancing interdisciplinary collaboration and understanding.

Before joining IIASA, she served as deputy head of the climate science team at Climate Analytics in Berlin, Germany. She also worked as the scientific coordinator of the PROVIDE project at the Integrative Research Institute on Transformations of Human-Environment Systems (IRI THESys) at Humboldt University Berlin, where she continues to hold an academic position. These roles have equipped her with extensive experience in line management, fundraising, and project management.

At IIASA, she is actively involved in several Horizon Europe projects, including SPARCCLE, RESCUE, and ForestNavigator, where she co-leads work packages to advance innovative research and solutions.

She holds a master’s degree in Disaster Management and Risk Governance from the University of Bonn and a Magister in Political Science, Peace and Conflict Management, and Geography from the University of Marburg.
