The URBIS24 Workshop will gather a diverse community of urban policymakers, Earth Observation researchers, service providers and various end-users. Taking place at ESA/ESRIN in Frascati, Italy, during September 16–18, 2024, this event will offer an insightful exploration of urban challenges and innovative EO-integrated solutions.

URBIS24 is dedicated to addressing the challenges and priorities faced by urban experts and decision-makers in urban planning, adaptation, and enhancing livability. By leveraging cutting-edge Earth Observation (EO) integrated solutions, the workshop aims to transform urban landscapes for the better.

The IIASA-led Urban ReLeaf project is driving transformative change by uniting public authorities and citizen groups to shape actions for urban green infrastructure. In six pilot cities, we are co-creating innovative, citizen-centric approaches that support urban greenspace monitoring and influence policy-making to enhance urban climate resilience. The presentation highlights the inspiring stories of these six cities and their unique approaches for participatory monitoring of air quality, heat stress and public perception of urban greenspaces. These insights can be further combined with EO data streams for localized decision making.
