The annual meeting of the LAMASUS project will take place at IIASA in October 2025. Principal Research Scholar Linda See (and LAMASUS work package leader) will discuss updates to the LAMASUS geodatabase on land use management with the consortium and the science and policy advisory board in light of new and updated geospatial data sets that have been produced.

The EU-funded LAMASUS project has been developing an integrated modelling framework to support policy needs related to the EU Green Deal and its many integrated policies, targets, and actions. The model toolbox allows a variety of stakeholders to investigate the impacts of different policy options while gaining a better understanding of the drivers and impacts of land use change.

A key input to these models has been information on how the land in Europe is used and managed. NODES leads the work package on the development of a land use management geodatabase, building on the Corine land cover product from the European Environment Agency and the Copernicus land monitoring system, and integrating this with other available European and national statistical and remotely sensed data sets. The geodatabase can be visualized from the LAMASUS website and is outlined in a deliverable. The final deliverable will summarize how the geodatabase could be updated in the future and what new data sets have since emerged that could be useful for the spatial characterization of pan-European land use management practices. The annual meeting will provide the opportunity to take stock of these new data sets and how they could be integrated into the geodatabase in the future.

The annual meeting of the LAMASUS project will bring together the consortium of 17 partners from 8 countries across Europe and a policy advisory board comprising EU-level policy makers and agencies to discuss project progress as LAMASUS enters its final year.
