The Energy, Climate, and Environment (ECE) program is delighted to announce the first MESSAGEix Community Meeting. It will be held over two days: 9-10 May 2022. The meeting will bring together open source software and the modeling community.

The MESSAGEix Community Meeting aims to provide a platform for showcasing novel developments and applications of the MESSAGEix modeling platform, sharing knowledge on different modeling approaches using MESSAGEix, best practices in applying MESSAGEix in policy-relevant research, and foster collaboration between different users of MESSAGEix from around the world. It is intended to establish a forum to learn about new modeling features developed by users and to illustrate ongoing research activities using MESSAGEix. Furthermore, the MESSAGEix Community Meeting is to support participants to develop advanced features in their modeling work by providing inspiration and connecting to other users. We hope to grow and sustain the MESSAGEix community by expanding capabilities of the modeling platform that is contributing to major international assessments and many scenario studies at global, national and subnational scale. Sharing knowledge and mutual support will help users to avoid duplication of efforts and find new ways to apply modeling for offering solutions to complex problems related to climate change mitigation, impacts, adaptation, and energy as well as broader sustainability transitions.
