Population and Just Societies Program scientists will present and discuss latest IIASA research at the hybrid European Population Conference-EPC 2024 organized by European Association for Population Studies (EAPS) in collaboration with the University of St. Andrews in Edinburgh.

The European Population Conference (EPC) is the main event of European Association for Population Studies (EAPS) and is a leading scientific gathering in the field of population studies. Experts from a wide range of disciplines, including researchers, policy makers and stakeholders discuss the latest developments in population research, population trends and dynamics as well as their causes and implications.

This year at EPC, IIASA has co-organized and sponsored a session on Advances in Population Research: Is demography losing its foresight capacity for policymaking in Europe?, which aims to bring together demographers and policymakers to reflect on demography as a foresight tool in policymaking. It follows in the footsteps of the Global Demographic Expert Survey on the Drivers and Consequences of Demographic Change, developed jointly by the European Commission Joint Research Centre, the International Institute for Applied System Analysis, and the United Nations Population Division.
