The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the UN and other International Organizations in Vienna H.E. Ambassador Abat Fayzullaev has visited IIASA to explore opportunities for scientific cooperation between the institute and Uzbekistan.

Ambassador Fayzullaev met with IIASA Director General Albert van Jaarsveld to discuss the IIASA research agenda, its mission, and development of systems analysis capacity.
Consideration was given as to how IIASA expertise in developing policy-oriented tools to solve complex issues such as water scarcity and the water-energy nexus might help address challenges facing the Central Asian region and Uzbekistan in particular.
Ambassador Fayzullaev was accompanied by Mr. Kodirjon Mukhammadiev, Head of the Consular Section, Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Austria. Iain Stewart, Head of the IIASA Communications and External Relations Department, and Sergey Sizov, Science Diplomacy Officer also participated in the meeting.
