How do people respond when the impacts of climate change hit close to home? A new study by IIASA and CMCC from the EU-funded project Adaptation AGORA (A Gathering place to cO-design and co-cReate Adaptation) reveals a striking paradox: while citizens in Catalonia show deep skepticism toward climate adaptation policies, they also demonstrate a “strong willingness to take action themselves”.

IIASA CAT-ASA scientists Nadejda Komendantova, Tatiana Ermolieva, and Taher Zobeidi jointly with PARATUS case study teams from Istanbul (Turkey), Bucharest (Romania), Barcelona (Spain), are excited to share a short summary of their joint work on "Systemic risks, vulnerability analysis and integrated disaster risk management for disaster resilient societies" in the frames of the WP2, Task 2.2. of the PARATUS project.

Researchers from the IIASA Novel Data Ecosystems for Sustainability (NODES) Research Group are part of the newly launched RIECS-Concept (Towards A Pan-European Research Infrastructure for Excellent Citizen Science), a project designed to develop a conceptual framework for a pan-European citizen science research infrastructure. The initiative aims to enhance the role of citizen science in data collection, validation, and policy engagement, ensuring long-term sustainability and broader participation in scientific research across Europe.
