
Germany’s Permanent Representative to the Office of the United Nations and other International Organizations in Vienna, H.E. Ruediger Bohn, visited IIASA to discuss strengthening collaboration on global challenges.

On 28 January 2025, IIASA was honored to welcome H.E. Ruediger Bohn to its headquarters in Laxenburg. The visit underscored the strong and long-standing partnership between IIASA and Germany.
Hosted by IIASA Director General Hans Joachim (John) Schellnhuber, the delegation engaged in meaningful discussions aimed at strengthening IIASA-Germany relations and enhancing collaboration in addressing global challenges.
Following the introductions, Schellnhuber provided an overview of IIASA’s research activities, showcasing the Institute’s impact in Germany and beyond. The ensuing discussion centered on potential avenues for deeper engagement. The IIASA leadership expressed gratitude for the continued engagement of the German government and reaffirmed its commitment to fostering its relationship with Germany as it looks forward to future collaborations that advance scientific research and policy solutions for a more sustainable world.
Ambassador Bohn was accompanied by Paula Schrage, Junior Attachée, while Barbara Kreissler, Head of Communications and External Relations Department, and Wolfgang Lutz, Distinguished Emeritus Research Scholar and IIASA Sherpa for Asia, joined the meeting from the IIASA side.
