In the framework of the IIASA 50th Anniversary, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and IIASA are co-hosting a hybrid event to celebrate 20 years of China’s participation in IIASA Young Scientists Summer Program (YSSP) on 6-7 September 2023 (Beijing, China and online).
This event is open to researchers and students in China and at IIASA, with connections to the YSSP. Registration is required for in-person and online participation. Registration is closed. By registering participants agree to the IIASA Terms of Use.
This joint event between IIASA and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) highlights the continued collaboration between the institute and the Chinese scientific community and the ongoing research exchange through the Young Scientists Summer Program (YSSP). The event was opened by ZHANG Yongtao, NSFC Acting Director of the Bureau of International Cooperation, with welcome remarks from Wolfgang Lutz, IIASA Interim Deputy Director General for Science.
During the event participants will get an overview of the main IIASA research activities and key areas of cooperation between IIASA and China. Participants will also learn about opportunities for PhD students to undertake scientific projects at IIASA, work in interdisciplinary teams, and train in different modes of thinking. Many young researchers from China have benefited from IIASA capacity building activities that offer unique possibilities to familiarize with systems analysis. The event will feature an YSSP Alumni Stories session where participants can ask questions and hear about past experiences from alumni.
Event speakers from IIASA include Anne Goujon, Population and Just Societies Program Director, Fabian Wagner, Dean of Capacity Development and Academic Training Unit (CDAT) and Principal Research Scholar in the Energy, Climate and Environment Program (ECE), and Shasha Xu, IIASA-PKU postdoctoral researcher in the Biodiversity and Natural Resources Program (BNR).
