The International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) and the Partnership for European Environmental Research (PEER) are organizing a workshop on Climate Information Services for Society on 19 May 2022.

The main objective of the workshop is to identify knowledge gaps, lessons learned, best practices and ways forward in the development of climate services for sectoral applications and to highlight the importance of bridging the gap between science and society. Participants from IIASA and PEER members will share experience and deliver presentations on their activities in the area of climate services. They will look into the definition of climate services and elaborate on what could be considered as successful climate services.

Among topics to be covered during the workshop are the role of private sector, research institutes, and various stakeholders in climate services, how can the EU invest in efficient development of climate services, the role of citizen science and local knowledge in improvement of climate services.
