Science, technology, and innovation will be vital in the battle to overcome global challenges and achieve a sustainable world for future generations. IIASA researcher Leena Ilmola will attend the World Science and Technology Forum and speak about the applications of agent based modelling.
The systems approach taken at IIASA is in contrast to narrowly focused, single-disciplinary science. A systems approach can provide a solid basis for policies and solutions to resolve major transitions and sustainability challenges.
Ministerial Meeting of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development
The World Science & Technology Forum leads up to the Ministerial Meeting of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), which plays an important role in transforming the global science and technology policy agenda. Attendees from 50~60 countries around the world, representing their respective government's science and technology ministries, will include the leaders of OECD members, OECD partners, and major international organizations. They will discuss immediate policy challenges as well as future issues to help create a clear direction for science and technology development and lead the efforts for mutual policy coordination. The meeting will cover topics such as ways to improve the design and implementation of innovation strategies; enhancing the impact of public investment in science and innovation; and new technologies to stimulate the green economy.
