Biography
Manya Oriel Kagan is a postdoctoral research scholar, working in the Migration and Sustainable Development Research Group of the IIASA Population and Just Societies Program.She is a sociologist, studying migration and education — her research explores the intersections of education and migration policy in urban areas on displaced children and families. Her current project focuses on the readiness of education and health systems in urban areas to receive displaced children (due to climate and conflict) and provide them with access to services, with case studies in Uganda, Bangladesh, Brazil, Poland, Germany, and Israel.
She received her PhD in education from Ben Gurion University in Israel and has just finished a postdoctoral fellowship in the "Global Shifts: Urbanization, Migration and Climate Change" lab at Perry World House, University of Pennsylvania, in the United States.
