IIASA Council

The Council is the governing body of the Institute. The Council is responsible for governance oversight, approval of the institute budget, strategies and governing principles, areas for IIASA research, as well as ensuring that IIASA activities are in line with institutional objectives, the provisions of the Charter, and the interests of Member Organizations.

Governance

IIASA is governed by a Council comprised of one permanent representative from each National and Regional Member Organization. Regulations concerning the Institute’s objectives, conditions of membership, internal structure, and the roles and responsibilities of the Council and management are outlined in the institutional Charter and the delegation of authority framework of Council, Council Committees, and IIASA Management.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is the leading international body for the assessment of climate change. It provides policymakers with a clear scientific view on the current state of knowledge of climate change and its potential environmental and socioeconomic impacts.

BRIDGES

BRIDGES (Big Research Infrastructures for Diplomacy and Global Engagement through Science) is an informal network of people who deal with science diplomacy and international relations in international research organizations.

YSSP Awards

Annually, up to three participants of the Young Scientists Summer Program are given an award for outstanding work produced during the program. The award provides financial support for the winners to return to IIASA in the following year for an additional three months of research.
